The Florida Department of Transportation will hold informational public meetings today and tomorrow on the Bridge of Lions rehabilitation project.

The $77-million project is expected to begin on Valentine's Day. The rehabilitated Bridge of Lions will feature lanes widened to 11 feet and barriers between pedestrians and vehicles. The bridge will still have two lanes and a drawbridge for boats.

The bridge meetings will be in the Alcazar Room at City Hall, 75 King St., from 5 to 7 p.m. today, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Before the Bridge of Lions project can begin, a two-lane 2,211-foot-long temporary bridge will be built just a few yards north of the current bridge. Its construction will take about a year.
